HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR MATERNITY PHOTO SESSION | CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHER
Congratulations on the impending birth of your little miracle! You have had your share of ups and downs on the journey to motherhood, but you’ve made it this far and that’s something worth celebrating.
Your body is doing something incredible. You’re growing your family quite literally and the moment you’ve dreamed of your entire life is nearly here. In your near future are sleepless nights, endless diapers, and the most incredible love you’ll ever know.
It can be easy to focus on the baby and forget about the special journey you are on during your pregnancy. But this is a unique time and one you won’t want to forget.
That’s why a maternity photoshoot is so important. It creates a visual reminder of this special time that seems to pass so quickly.
Celebrate your body
Pregnancy may not always feel as glamourous as you imagined. You may be dealing with constant heartburn and swollen ankles and not feel your best. According to study conducted in Norway, most mom’s experienced lower self-esteem during pregnancy.
The best way to deal with it is to celebrate your body. A maternity photoshoot is a great way to show gratitude to your body for the hard work it’s doing. Try to think of it as a chance to spend some time appreciating it and reveling in the miraculous process you are experiencing.
Better yet, work with a team like the one at Frame a Memory and your maternity photoshoot will also be an opportunity for you to get dressed up for the day. A team is there to support you and make you look your best so that you can see how beautiful you are.
Even if you can’t appreciate it in the moment, you’ll be able to look at these photos from a new perspective one your baby is born.
When to book your maternity photo session
It’s a good idea to book your photoshoot at around 12 weeks and to plan for photos at week 30 to 32 of your pregnancy. You’ll have a round and full belly by then but will still be far enough away from your due date to be sure you get your photos.
That said, if you want to work with Frame A Memory, the earlier you book your session the better! Our studio books up extremely fast.
Other things to consider
Before your session, reflect on who you may want to support you or even join you in your photos. Many mothers will bring their spouses or other children to join them. This can be a great opportunity to capture the excited of the whole family who are awaiting this bundle of joy. We highly encourage that you include dad and siblings. This is a huge milestone for the entire family.
What to do the night before your photoshoot
It’s important to be well-rested and hydrated before your photo session. Be sure to head to bed early and get lots of sleep the day before. This will help make sure you not only look your best but have the energy you need for a busy day!
Water is equally important to keep your skin looking fresh. Start focusing on your hydration the day before your session.
You may also want to consider getting a manicure and pedicure before your session. Not only is it a good excuse to pamper yourself, but it will photograph beautifully. Choose neutral colors or a French manicure so that it doesn’t draw the eye too much from the main attraction—you and your baby belly!
It’s photo day!
On the day of your maternity photoshoot, you’ll want to keep drinking lots of water. A few hours before your session, take some time to moisturize. This will ensure your skin glows in photos and will give it enough time to dry. Focus on your belly, face, neck, arms, and knees.
Avoid wearing any tight-fitting clothing or accessories that might leave marks on your skin like a snig watchband. Instead, stick to loose-fitting clothing that you can easily change in and out of.
Some photographers may require you to choose your own outfit or come prepared with your hair and make-up, but at Frame a Memory our team handles this for you. This means you have less to think about and are sure to look incredible in your photos.
A special day for a mom-to-be
The most important thing to remember for your maternity photoshoot is to just enjoy yourself! This is a special time in your life and a special day. It is a chance to capture a moment and make a memory that will last a lifetime. Do your best to just relax and relish the experience.
